Whats next for Arsenal: Potential XI

With the dreadful season finally over Arsenal will try to add some quality additions to the side if they don't want to repeat what they did this season. The first one Arsenal need to look on will be committing Captain Aubameyang. Take away his 22 goals this season Arsenal would have just survived relegation which ultimately says that extending Aubameyang's contract should be their top priority. So let's look at the potential XI that will Arsenal land if they get their transfers right

Goalkeeper: (Leno/Martinez) This is the one position Arsenal can look and say our backup is as good as our number one. Leno kept Arsenal in most of the games and without his crucial saves in some games, Arsenal could have been in a really bad position. The away game at Brighton was a knife to the heart not because of the loss, but more because of losing Leno to a bad injury and tough games to come by. But Martinez proved to be a much better back up goalkeeper. He ended the season with the most saves percentage of all and proved that he can literally walk into most of the premier league teams.

Right-back: (Bellerin/Niles) Maitland Niles's performance against Manchester City and Chelsea in the FA Cup tournament proves that he has the quality and potential to become a very good player. The way he kept Mahrez quiet for the most part of the game and gave the Chelsea backline a tough time too. Bellerin who had been poor after the restart slowly gained his form and played an immense part for the second goal for Arsenal against Chelsea in the FA Cup final. With Cedric adding squad depth, Arsenal are said to be fine with this position

Centre-backs: (Saliba/ Luiz/ Mari/ Gabriel) With Gabriel rumours up on the news, it's better to pair up the players whom we have at the disposal. Saliba looks like a good transfer and he could directly walk into this line-up without any doubts, it would be good to have Mari as his pairing but him injured for some time, the ideal scenario is Luiz and Saliba in the defence. Gabriel once confirmed can slot into the left-hand side position. Chambers and Holding can add squad depth with Mustafi and Sokratis likely to leave

Left-back: (Tierney/ Saka) The arrival of Tierney really had served its hype, he looks to be the type of player Arsenal had been missing for some time, the way gets up the pitch during the transition, his pick out balls for Aubameyang and his reading of the game in defence are really exceptional. Arsenal has got a player if he stays fit. It will be good for Arsenal if Kolasinac moves on, as much as he is good on the attack his defensive part never seems to improve. Arsenal needs to play Saka more as a left wing-back or get someone as a back up for Tierney.

Midfield trio: (Xhaka, Torriera/ Ceballos, Willock/ Willian, Smith Rowe) The midfield of Ceballo and Xhaka seems to be the one that Arsenal should hold on as their performance shows. The win percentage was around 80% when Xhaka started with Ceballos. A loan spell for Ceballos which started with great hopes seems to have died off if not for the revamp under Arteta. Arteta will like to hold him for one more season on loan as he has proved he is a quality player. This might come as a surprise for many, but if we don't get Coutinho, Willian should start as no 10, he can slip in through balls drive through the midfield and is really a good player on the wings if anyone gets injured. Europa and Cup games will give Smith Rowe a chance to grab that number 10 role if he performs. Arsenal have depth in the likes of Torriera and Willock, but getting Ceballos on loan should be more important. Partey and Coutinho seem to off now so signing Ceballos on loan is a necessity now.

Front-three: (Pepe, Willian, Saka/ Lacazette/ Aubameyang) Pepe slowly showing he is worth the money that Arsenal spent on, his best performance came on the final match of the season where he had the Chelsea defence on their toes. His disallowed goal would have on the history books of FA Cup if not for Niles to be offside in the build-up. Lacazette may have not got the glory part but he sacrifices himself to let Auba and Pepe do the things, his hold up plays, dropping deep to get the ball are some of the many that should be noticed. Aubameyang has shown his critics that he is a big game player with his display against Chelsea and Manchester City. Scoring four goals in two games helped Arteta secure his first trophy in his first season as a manager. Saka is a young prospect and quality player who can be slotted into the left-hand side of the lineup whenever required.
