Premier League 2020/2021: Preview

Football always is fun and exciting, it gets even better when it comes to the Premier League which kicks off on the 12th of this month. The first matchday features an early one where the Gunners take on the newly promoted London club Fulham followed by the Saints on an away trip to the south London club Crystal Palace. Newly promoted Leeds take on their rivals and defending champions Liverpool in Anfield. The final match of the day is the one that features West Ham hosting Newcastle United. Sunday comes up with some really good matches featuring promoted West Brom hosting Leicester City, the Toffees away at Spurs, a cracked between the Blades and Wolves with the final game where the Blues visit the Amex stadium

All the clubs have made notable investments in their team and it will really hard to pick out who comes out on top. But here is my opinion on some of the key places on who will come out on top and who is set to suffer

Who will be the champions?

In my opinion, Liverpool will retain their title. There will be a neck to neck competition among three teams this season. Manchester City and Chelsea have incredibly strengthened their team but will it be enough to challenge Liverpool is the question. Chelsea have an inexperienced manager in them, Lampard who has done a pretty good job the previous season but we will get a chance to analyze him more this season on how he handles the pressure, communication among players, and handling the big names. On the other hand, even though City have strengthened their squad with Ake and Torres, they have lost Leroy Sane. Ferran Torres is a really good player but he still has not kicked a ball in the premier league it will be hard for him to fill the boots of Sane in the initial periods at least. So my pick is Liverpool who has one of the incredible teams in Europe and they will come out on top if none of the players leave and the potential signing of Thiago still on the cards

Who will be in Europe?

Everyone can agree on the top three places will be secured by Liverpool, Chelsea, and City. The fourth spot is up for grabs among the teams like Arsenal, Manchester United, Spurs, Wolves, Leicester, etc. There is more likely one outcome which is Manchester United with Arsenal and Spurs can have a say to that position. Leicester City will drop points this season as they have not strengthened their squad and they had to play in Europe also this season. Arsenal can challenge for the top four again if they secure one of Partey or Aouar at least, without one of them either Arsenal will most likely to be in a scenario where they miss out on Champions League spot yet again. They will still have the Europa league card but finishing in the top four would be a better achievement. Arsenal and Spurs both have strengthened the squads with more quality in comparison to Wolves and the Blades who have also made some good signings to compete for the Europa places. One more team that has immensely strengthened their squad is Everton with the signings like James, Allan, and Doucoure. They will finish is Europe spots but let's see if they can challenge for the top four. So my European spots are

  • Liverpool (Champions)
  • Manchester City
  • Chelsea
  • Manchester United/Arsenal
  • Arsenal/Spurs/Manchester United
  • Spurs/Everton
Who will be relegated?

It is highly crazy to guess this one so early of the season because we have witnessed even the greater sides like Arsenal and United struggled and at some point, they were to relegation rather than the top ten. But I can look at some teams and I believe they are likely to struggle this season. Either one of Fulham or West Brom is likely to go down, I have nothing against them but they haven't strengthened their squads like Leeds United who have made some really good signings like Rodrygo, Koch, etc. So Leeds are more likely to stay up this season. The other potential relegation would be Burnley and West Ham. Burnley as we all now are tough to break down but that is gonna be their downfall soon. They will be in huge trouble if Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez drop form. Regarding West Ham, it's always about how they handle the pressure last time they were able to turn it around but they looked they were going down till the resurgence of Antonio who will be the key player for them this season also. Brighton and others who might face this scenario will mostly like to survive or even finish higher in the table. But here I am giving my teams who are most likely relegated
  • West Ham United
  • West Bromwich Albion/ Fulham
  • Burnley
So this is my preview of the upcoming premier league season, please go through once and forgive me if any of my views is not in line with yours. Please give your suggestions as it would help to become better.
